Sometimes things just go south. To restart an OMS installation without backing everything out and scrubbing your file systems, try this.

Go into the ORACLE_HOME for your Middleware and traverse down into $OH/oui/bin
Execute the runConfig.sh script with the following values (breaks added for clarity – run it one line)

runConfig.sh ORACLE_HOME=/orabase/Middleware/oms \
MODE=perform \
ACTION=configure \
RERUN=false

The ORACLE_HOME is your Middleware home, MODE and ACTION indicate ‘what’ to do, and RERUN=false tells the script to skip previously successful tasks

Here’s what it looked like after my installation failed to start the OMS (ulimit -n was set too low so the OMS wouldn’t start and I had to log-out and back in):

oracle@ora04> runConfig.sh ORACLE_HOME=/orabase/Middleware/oms MODE=perform ACTION=configure RERUN=false
Setting the invPtrLoc to /orabase/Middleware/oms/oraInst.loc

perform – mode is starting for action: configure

perform – mode finished for action: configure

You can see the log file: /orabase/Middleware/oms/cfgtoollogs/oui/configActions2012-11-14_03-48-31-PM.log
oracle@ora04> cat /orabase/Middleware/oms/cfgtoollogs/oui/configActions2012-11-14_03-48-31-PM.log
